Your Island Ride - Van Service

The Nantucket Regional Transit Authority (NRTA) provides year round transportation to persons with disabilities and elders 60 years of age and older, this service is called Your Island Ride. All clients must be certified and determined eligible, per ADA guidelines, to use this service.

Your Island Ride van transportation service operates on an advanced reservation system in order to provide adequate transportation for the elderly and disabled of Nantucket. This operation is a door-to-door service. When the NRTA is providing seasonal fixed route service, the NRTA’s van serves as the ADA Paratransit service as well.

All clients are required to call in advance for an appointment. Appointments are to be made, at a minimum, by 2:00 p.m. the day before travel. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. No same day transportation will be provided.

At times a trip may not be able to be scheduled at the time the passenger requests. The Trip Scheduler will give the passenger the times that are available. If it is not possible to transport him/her the day requested, the passenger will be informed and given the opportunity to schedule a trip for a future date and time. Medical appointments take priority.

It is preferable that the NRTA is given 24 hours notice of a canceled trip. However, the passenger is required to give at least two (2) hours notice of a cancelled trip. If the driver arrives for a scheduled pick up, which a passenger has failed to cancel, that trip will be marked and the client will be charged as a "no show".
